Rawdon Community Library is an independent organisation, run and funded entirely by the efforts of volunteers. We became an independent library as of September 2013, following a two and half year campaign to stop Leeds City Council's cost-saving intiatives resulting in our closure.

Over that period, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, we also became a focus for regular community and voluntary activities, providing the space and facilities for the community of Rawdon, as well as hosting special events.

We were officially opened by local MP Stuart Andrew in November 2013.

Our building, purpose-built as the HQ of the former Aireborough Libraries in 1962, stands on the edge of Micklefield Park near Rawdon Lights. It has several rooms - including the library space itself - all of which can be hired.

New users are very welcome to join the library, but please be aware that any existing Leeds public library card you possess will not be valid at Rawdon Community Library.

In being an independent library, we require that all users create an account with us where you will be issued with login credentials and a seperate library card to borrow books and journals. You can come into the library to register or, alternatively you can do so online.

We also welcome volunteers and if you are interested you can find out more on our volunteering page.

Rawdon Community Library relies on monetary donations to stay independent. If you would like to donate an amount to help keep the library open, please click on the button below. No donation is too small and every single one is very much appreciated. Thank you.
